I have returned

I’m back and feeling refreshed!

Now that I’m back, I’ve mapped out a rough idea of what I plan to work on over the next few months (subject to change, obviously). First of all, despite FocusWriter being my largest userbase, I’m only planning on doing bugfix releases over the next few months, with maybe one or two minor additions along the way if they’re simple. The rest of my projects have gotten severely neglected in the wake of FocusWriter’s success, and I need to work on them for a while. Don’t worry, FocusWriter fans, I am planning a bigger update later this year. More details on that in a later post.

With this in mind, first up is Tetzle. I’m updating the graphics, fixing bugs, and optimizing the performance of the game. After that, I plan to make a feature update to Kapow, and then likely I’ll blow the dust off of one of my other games (Tanglet or Connectagram), and add in several good feature ideas submitted by the users.

So that’s how things stand right now. Hope that you’ve all been well!

Thank you! As a fervent user of FocusWriter I was looking for a way to have it on my USB-stick. I also like the visual improvement of rounding corners, and the typewriter sounds.

Andre Bor, do you see “focuswriter portable”?

Search on google: http://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=focuswritter+portable&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Have some versions to usb.

Paulo, yes I saw there’s a FocusWriter version for USB-sticks. That’s why I made the comment above. 🙂 Thank you for your reaction.

I tried a variety of simplistic text editors and your focuswriter is the best. I really like it. But there is one thing that I haven’t got used to so far - when an txt file is opened, cursor is always at the end of the file. I would appreciate if in your future release, you could provide an option for the user to change this. Thanks.

Focuswriter is the best distraction-free text editor out there - congratulations, and thank you! - it’s a great program.
But if you do revisit it, could you add options for line / paragraph spacing? It’s the one thing that would make readability even better.

@ioannes

In the meantime, jou could try using fonts with different vertical spacing. I find Goudy Bookletter 1911 quite readable, it’s free and easy to find on Google.

Cheers

Just dropping a comment to say that FocusWriter has made a huge difference for me where, well, focus is concerned. I’ve been sticking to my daily goals for months now; it’s let me make a complete turnaround in motivation.

The only thing that would be more awesome is to have the choice of 13 pt font instead of having to go from 12 straight to 14. (I write on a netbook and also have less-than-stellar eyesight—12 pt is too small for my eyes and 14 pt is a little too big for my screen, when viewed in the fonts I prefer.)

Just wanted to say thank you for making this program. 🙂 It’s been a great alternative to Pyroom.
